Chris Spedding performs A Rockabilly Boogie - The Robert Gordon Songbook Live

Robert Gordon was a man born out of time. Many fans and music historians believe that, had he been recording in the '50s, he would have become a rockabilly legend ala Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran or Elvis Presley. Instead, he kickstarted the worldwide rockabilly revival in 1977 with the release of his debut album, Robert Gordon With Link Wray. Gordon's early albums were produced by Richard Gottehrer, the legendary producer and songwriter. His second LP Fresh Fish Special, featured former Elvis vocalists the Jordanaires and included a cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Fire" that had the Boss himself on keyboards. For Gordon's 1979 album Rockabilly Boogie, he signed on with RCA Records, and this project marked the start of Chris Spedding's 40+ year recording and touring collaboration with Robert. Spedding performed lead and rhythm guitar on all 12 tracks on Rockabilly Boogie. Robert and Chris, along with bassist Tony Garnier and drummer Bobby Chouinard toured Europe and North America relentlessly in support of the RCA release. Robert enjoyed what many refer to as his creative and artistic peak during the early Gordon-Spedding years. In addition to the numerous studio records made by the pair, the combination of Gordon's powerful baritone and Spedding's razor sharp guitar playing is preserved and available on hundreds of live concert video recordings from 1979 to 2019 on the YouTube media platform. In 2022 Robert and Chris released their final full length studio album Hellafied which features a masterful collection of previously unreleased studio recordings from the late '90s. On October 18 of 2022 Robert Gordon peacefully passed away in New York City after a year long illness.

It is with the utmost of respect and honor for Robert's indelible gift as one of America's foremost vocal talents that Chris Spedding along with the long time Robert Gordon rhythm section of Phil "Greasy" Carlisi (bass) and Todd Glass (drums), and guest vocalist/guitarist Nicholas Campbell will perform "The Robert Gordon Songbook Live" in concert, A Rockabilly Boogie, on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto. Doors open at 8:00 PM. Tickets are on sale at www.ticketweb.ca

Don't miss this special concert performance that features an entire evening of Robert Gordon's best cuts from throughout his illustrious career.
