The bass is deep, the vibes are high, and the reggae rhythms are about to take over Victoria’s Inner Harbour.

Kicking off the ticketed shows, Dub FX will headline Victoria’s 26th Annual Ska & Reggae Festival on the Friday night, bringing his signature fusion of beatboxing, looping, and bass-heavy electronic dub to Ship Point. Known for turning the streets into stages, the Australian-born artist has built a global following with his genre-defying sound that blends reggae, hip-hop, drum and bass, and deep, conscious lyricism. From viral street performances to massive festival stages, Dub FX is pure energy and innovation, crafting entire sonic landscapes with nothing but his voice and a loop station.

Joining the bill is the feel-good groove machine known as Lazy Syrup Orchestra—a collective of all-star Canadian musicians. Lazy Syrup Orchestra is all about slow-dripped, sun-soaked beats that make you move. Merging live instrumentation with soulful electronic elements, their sets are an irresistible blend of funk, hip-hop, and downtempo house, creating the perfect vibe for golden hour by the harbour. Whether you’re skanking, swaying, or just soaking it all in, Lazy Syrup Orchestra delivers sweet and pure ear candy.

Before that, though, Ed Solo and Navigator, a duo that needs little introduction in the world of jungle and drum and bass, will get your body moving. Ed Solo, the UK-based producer and DJ, has been a force in bass music for over two decades, crafting dancefloor anthems that blur the lines between reggae, dub, and DnB. Pair him with Navigator, a legendary MC with roots in London’s underground soundsystem culture, and you’ve got a masterclass in high-energy, bass-heavy beats. Expect chest-rattling drops, rapid-fire lyricism, and a set that’ll have the whole festival moving as one.

Holding it all together between sets is DJ Dubconscious, a true selector’s selector with a deep love for all things dub, reggae, and bass. A staple of Canada’s bass music scene, Dubconscious has spent years championing the sounds of reggae, dancehall, and electronic dub, delivering seamless mixes that keep the crowd grooving from start to finish. Whether he’s pulling deep cuts from reggae’s golden era or dropping modern bass-heavy bangers, his sets are exactly what you’d come to expect at Victoria’s Ska & Reggae Festival.

    Dub FX

    World

Dub FX is the epitome of independent music.

In 2006, Melbourne born Benjamin Stanford set off to Europe with a simple plan; live in a van, travel the world and street perform. Fast forward, Dub FX has sold over a hundred thousand records, rocked major festivals all over the world, racked up 150+ million youtube views and organically acquired 600,000 Facebook fans.  All completely independently.

“My plan was never to blow up, just to travel and get inspired.”

After endless street performances all over the world, people captured his art form on their phones and posted them all over social media, resulting in viral videos that catapulted dub fx into a brand new type of success that didn’t yet exist. The videos capture his original live looping style perfectly giving the audience an understanding of the layers that make up the eclectic one-person show.

“I like to mix all genres together jazz, reggae, hip-hop, samba, drum n bass, dubstep. whatever I’m feeling at the moment, that's the beauty of my setup.”

Imagine you're walking to work; you hear what sounds like a track from a CD played out of a Soundsystem. Instead, it's one person making all the sounds from just his voice, an FX pedal and a loop machine. Lyrically Dub FX is as real as it gets, consciously projecting positivity and self-empowerment through his music. Exactly what a street corner needs.

“I decided long ago that I want to be remembered for adding value to the world and I can do this through inspiring people with conscious lyrical content, regardless of how unpopular that may be”

Dub FX independently released his 3rd studio album 'Thinking Clear' in late 2016 through his label CONVOY in partnership with Germany label Membran. Recorded in his very own Treetop Studios, his innovative blend of genres with environmental scenery creates a holistic experience that inspires through transcendent electronic and acoustic elements.
